Swimming lessons for kids.

From first splash to confident swimmer. Private lessons in Jacksonville Beach for children of all ages and experience levels.

The 15-minute method.

Suzi's lessons for young children are 15 minutes long. This is intentional.

Young children have short attention spans. A focused 15-minute private lesson with one teacher is more effective than a 30- or 45-minute group class where a child waits for a turn and loses focus.

Every minute of a 15-minute lesson is active, engaged, and purposeful.

Frequency matters more than duration. Regular short lessons build muscle memory, water confidence, and skill faster than occasional long ones.

15

minutes per lesson

Lesson length and frequency can be adjusted as swimmers grow and develop. Suzi will discuss what makes sense for your child.

How kids progress.

01

Water comfort

Getting comfortable in the water. Face in. Eyes open. Breath control. Not panicking. Learning that the water is a place to be — not a place to fear.

02

Get to the wall

The first survival skill. Enter the water. Orient the body. Move through the water. Get to the wall. This is the foundation everything else is built on.

03

Independent movement

Kicking. Arm movement. Floating. Moving through the water without assistance. Building the physical skills and the confidence to use them.

04

Stroke development

Freestyle. Backstroke. Breathing technique. Body position. Endurance. Building toward beautiful, efficient swimming.

Swim lessons are one important layer of water safety. No swim lesson makes a child drown-proof. Active adult supervision and appropriate water-safety protections are always necessary.

Parents learn too.

Suzi teaches parents what she is teaching their child.

Swimming is learned through repetition. The lesson is 15 minutes. The rest of the week matters too.

When parents understand what Suzi is working on — the specific skill, the cue, the correction — they can reinforce it at the pool, at the beach, in the bathtub.

This is not a drop-off-and-wait program. Parents are part of the process.

Every child is different.

Fearful children

Fear is information. Suzi does not rush it, shame it, or ignore it. She works with it. Fearful children often make the most meaningful progress.

Autism + neurodivergent learners

Private instruction allows Suzi to adapt her communication style, pacing, sensory approach, and use of rhythm and music to the individual child.

Children who struggled in group lessons

Group lessons work for many children. They don't work for all of them. Private instruction gives the child who got lost in a group a chance to actually learn.

Babies + early learners

Suzi welcomes babies approximately six months and older for developmentally appropriate water introduction and parent coaching.
